Me and my 11-year-old 1.8d Mondeo got together about 6 years ago. This is her third marriage. She has 170 thousand kilometers behind her, but feels well. After 11 years, with the third driver, the compression is not the same as it was when being new. The consumption is usually between 7.5 - 8.0 liters, which is acceptable after so much she went through, with such a weight, with my employment. If I ask her, she does what she's told.

Sometimes I refuelled my car with a "brand" diesel, out of curiosity. I also tried several additives available on the market, but improvement was insignificant, if any. The price/value ratio didn't convince me either that this is the way to go.

I was also sceptical about THERMOL™, but I tried it in the end, after urging from my friend, Lszl Rampasek. Already before the first refuelling I had an unexplainable good feeling, as if the engine was really running smoother. Then I had to visit a station again. I managed my usual routes of half inner city/half motorway-highway with only 7.2 l/100km.

I got curious and after driving 500 km on highway only, I decided to refuel again. I measured 6.6 liters/100 km, and I tried to be very careful about filling the tank completely.

This car, during its 6 years spent with me, has never had a consumption of less than 7 liters, under any circumstances.

After 6 months of using THERMOL™ the improvement has always been above 5% on highways, in the city, or the "mixture" of these two.

AFuel savings definitely means that combustion is more efficient, so there are less deposits and slags in the engine and exhaust pipe. Since I've been using THERMOL™, I don't fume that often.

Of course you have to pay for THERMOL™ too, but as they say, the pros outweigh the cons.
